Global Poverty Project

So i haven't update in a while because I have been a bit busy, working and volunteering for a charity, organising an event.

I volunteered for the Global Poverty project which is the follow up to the Make poverty History Campaign back in 2005. They are launching the 1.4 billion reasons summer tour bringing the 1.4 billion reasons presentation to 10+ cities in the UK over the last few weeks in August and the first few weeks in September.

The Belfast event is going to be great with excellent comedians and bands supporting the presentation. It has been great fun to work on apart from the one volunteer quitting and lack of responses from companies and the overall lack of charity in people. I think there's either too many charities around or people just couldn't care. We are trying to make it a fun night where people can have fun while fundraising and gaining awareness and I hope we get a good crowd. Fingers crossed!

World Cup Hotties

So, the Sun made a Top Ten of the World Cup Hotties and I totally disagreed with them! Of course I had to make a list of my own, not a top ten but just a few of my favourites. Now that the world cup is over lets look back and appreciate the gorgeous men...lol
In no particular order:

Fernando Torres - Still injured but made in on for the end of extra time. Love him with brown hair too!

Christiano Ronaldo - Too much of a pretty boy but I give him points for that body!

Ahn Jung Whan - Didn't see any playing time but I still love him!

Gonzalo Higuain - Had my money on him to be top goalscorer! Ah well!

Cesc Fabregas

David Beckham - He couldn't be left out! Sitting on the bench in his suit and his tatts! Perfect! :)

I could probably keep going for ages like this but I will leave it like this. Feel free to give me some suggestions for additions if you think I missed anyone!

RIP Park Yong-Ha! So Sad!

There have been quite a few suicides among young Korean actors and actresses over the last year or so and they have all been terrible but this was has been the most shocking for me!

Park Yong-Ha was a real talent and only 32 years old! I first saw him in the drama Winter Sonata with Bae Young Joon. He was fantastic in this drama and really handsome too! He was massively popular in Japan as well as Korea and had been acting ever since.

He was found hanging in his home in Korea today and no one know why he would have killed himself. There is speculation that it was due to his fathers battle with stomach cancer or his recent financial troubles but whatever the reason was the Korean entertainment industry has lost a fantastic star.

What an awful shame! RIP Park Yong-Ha!

Kickette - The football site for girls

Was putting together a list of my favourite 10 hunks of the World Cup (because the Sun's top ten were crap!) and I came across this site. Gotta love it, hot footballers, gossip and fashion in the one place!

Check it out here - www.kickette.com

Blog design is finally here!

Finally there is the option to really change your blog on blogger. I just saw the new design option and picked something really quickly because I was sooo excited. I don't know if this new design is really me but even if I want to change it there are now loads of new changes I can make!

It's the small things that make me happy lol!

USA beat England!!!!

The Sun quotes from several American papers today and what a funny story they are quoting! It seems as though the American nation believe that they won the match against England on Saturday! Was I watching a different match? I had a wee bet on the Americans to actually win so I was especially dissappointed with their performance but by no means did their lucky goal or eventual draw (not "tie" as they put it!) prove any point about their football prowess! Let's face it, if it wasn't for Robert Green they would have lost that match. They are a much better side than they used to be with a lot more fantastic talent but they lack experience. England on the other hand have lots of experience and lots of ego too! On paper they are the winning team but ego stops them playing as the team they should be! I love the way the americans can turn things around but best not to be too deluded!

Check out the article:
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3013091/USA-beats-England-1-1.html

It does really bother me when americans try to change the language of an instituation such as football! It is football, match and draw! Rant over!

Rain wins MTV Biggest Badass Award!!!

http://www.allkpop.com/2010/06/rain-wins-biggest-badass-star-award-at-mtv-movie-awards-2010

Rain has won the MTV Biggest Badass Award for his role as Raizo in Ninja Assassin!

I am so happy that Rain has won this award. No doubt all the KPOP fans were voting as it was a public vote but who cares!!! He deserves the recognition for all the months of fight training and conditioning he went through and for the brilliant portrayal of Raizo!

Well done Rain! Funny too that he received his award from Jackie Chan and the new Karate Kid. Rain is releasing a song for the Karate Kid soundtrack in Korea!

This has just made my day! Everyone should watch Ninja Assassin!

The Lion Massager!

Check out this link! This guy is actually massaging a Lion's foot! Crazy Man! But how cute is the Lion, loving that rub!

Hilarious Engrish - Thanks to Glen for taking the pics

Why do J's not get the english checked before putting it up?

Absolutely Fabulous SATC! Bugger the Critics!

Despite all the critics rubbishing the new Sex and the City movie I went along to see it last night. It was a lovely girlie night out with my sis and friend. We went for dinner and then went to see the film.

The cinema was bunged full of women, with a few men scattered into the crowd (poor boyfriends being dragged along, no gay men though!)

I never listen to critics really because they don't have a notion what they are talking about so I always just go to see what I want/like. The film was good fun, lots of laughs but lots of cringey embarrassing moments left me hiding behind my hand or leaning over to my sis asking "why did they do that?".

The fashion and scenery were amazing! Although set in Abu Dhabi it was filmed elsewhere, Morrocco I think, due to decency laws!!! Decency my ass, ridiculous traditions that subjugate women more like!

Relationship stories were the main part of the film as usual, there was no real main storyline apart from the girls on holiday, getaway story which was enough for me. The opulent sets and clothing made me soooo jealous, made me wish I was rich and living a completely different life somewhere else. I wish!

I would recommend anyone to see this film, even men! I think men could learn a lot about women from watching SATC, although it could make them more confused lol.

Anyway, I enjoyed it but not as much as I loved Ninja Assassin, and the critics panned that too! It is a frivolous and fun way to spend a few hours and the laughs made me leave the cinema with a smile so that's all I ask for.

Cadbury's Dairy Milk being sidelined!!!!

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1275526/Cadbury-owner-plugs-inferior-Milka-bar-chocolate-lovers-say-Krafty-sideline-Dairy-Milk

The new American Idiots, I mean Bosses, at Cadbury are heavily promoting Milka, which is leading everyone to believe that Dairy Milk is to be sidelined in the future. The talk is that Milka is cheaper to produce, hence saving the company money but although I like Milka it is something you get on holiday or for a treat every now and again. Dairy Milk is an institution in the UK and it is far superior to Milka!

I used to get care packages sent to me when I lived in Japan and all my foreign friends loved their Cadbury fix when the package arrived! We all love Dairy Milk and I am sure if they try to sideline it they will have a fight on their hands!

Dairy Milk Forever!

Korean Artists again accused of Plagiarism!

Plagiarism is something that has been hounding Korean artists over the years and several examples had made the headlines recently. G-Dragon, CN Blue and several others have been accused of plagiarising other artists to some extent however, the most recent case is most definitely the most serious.

Hyori (Lee Hyori), the most popular female artist in Korea has made a comeback and unfortunately 6 out of the 7 songs on her album have been accused of being copied. You can see full details on the link below.

http://popseoul.com/2010/04/24/hyori-faces-major-plagiarism-accusations

Usually the accusation is unfounded or it relates to an uncited sample or small part of a melody but this time they have just blatantly copied songs! I doubt she will get away with this one!

The song above is a good one and the only song that hasn't been pulled for being plagiarised!

Weed! - In my street!

Yesterday was an odd day! Spotted some police heading into the house at the bottom of the street at about 10am. The house is always oddly quiet since it was sold a while ago. We saw some Asian people, possibly Chinese, at one point but haven't seen them since so thought they had moved out!

When we returned home at 11.30 there were over 10 people standing outside the house, police, official looking types and I thought some paramedics. I immediately thought someone had been found dead or they had discovered prostitution or illegal immigrants squatting.

About an hour or 2 later the skips started arriving and the police started dumping everything out of the house. They must of filled 4 skips full of stuff. All the neighbours started chatting in the street and some mentioned that the house always had closed curtains and condensation on the windows. Then one of the older ladies in the street mentioned cannabis and we all knew that that was the closest explanation of what could be the reason for the situation.

The police wouldn't tell us anything and told one of the neighbours to watch the news at 6pm but there was no news about it at all. There was a small picture and some information in the News Letter this morning that they had found 400 cannabis plants of varying stages of growth in different rooms in the house!!! We don't know who is responsible or if they caught anyone but they did take a lot of stuff out of the house. I heard that they were paying £1600 a month for rent but I am sure they were making much more with the weed! I am sure they are sickened that they have lost it!

Turns out that an Asian family near a friend of mine was caught for the same thing! I'm guessing that there is some mental Asian Weed Ring in Belfast at the moment...lol

NI Election Debate - What Debate?????!!!!

So what was that? There was very little debate on issues that I saw! All I saw was poor speaking, issue dodging and a really poor chairman!

Who thought Jim Dougal was strong enough to run the show? Gerry Adams ran the show in the end, giving Reg Empey the go ahead to speak at one point! I couldn't stand his smug smirk that he had throughout the show either! To be honest I find it hard to listen to Adams especially when he refuses to admit that he was ever in the IRA....he said he was never invited!!!!! In West Belfast in the 60s and 70s, he was at the forefront of the Republican Movement but no one ever invited him to join the IRA!!! I think this was the biggest joke of the night. Everyone in my house was appalled and I am sure many other homes felt the same outburst of disgust at that point!

Reg Empey came out the most measured and honest in my opinion. Even though he made a few digs at Robinson he still stayed quite calm. He suit was the only downer for me!

Robinson was very quiet in my opinion. He is a very confident and experienced politician and although he wasn't as vocal as usual he still showed his confidence through his answers. He looked very bemused at some of Gerry Adams answers but who wasn't!!!

Poor Margaret Ritchie though showed her inexperience. Most people who know me know that as much as I like Margaret personally she wasn't my choice for the new party leader and she proved my points last night. She doesn't have the speaking ability, knowledge, ability to retort, charisma or skill to fight back against the other leaders who much more experienced! I really wanted her to look up and fight back. Tell Adams she will give him answers when he gives answers, truthful answers, about his past in the IRA, locations of the disappeared and why he left his niece to flounder when finding out about the awful abuse she suffered.

All in all it was a poor showing on all fronts and I hope the next debate is an actual debate!

Poster War

**Note - Turns out that neither candidate is in the wrong but to clarify for constituents the electoral commission should really let them know in which constituency they are now living in. It is a grey area that is very difficult to clear up!

There are always complaints during the election about Posters. Some people complain that they are outside their house and don't want to see them, others complain when rival posters are put up in the wrong area, and some complain about posters that aren't down after the election (this annoys me too, but it is easy to miss the odd one).

Now normally these things don't bother me but I had to investigate a problem with Mum's posters today. I was told that their had been a complaint about our posters being beside the UCUNF (Ulster Unionist and Tories) candidate for South Belfast. The borders of course meet along the boundary line but I had been very careful about their position. Turns out that it wasn't our mistake at all, the UCNUF posters are way out of their boundary. If it was only 1 poster I wouldn't be bothered but there are 7-10 posters on the main Knock dual carriage-way out of South belfast and into East Belfast.

South Belfast MP Alasdair McDonnell was recently criticised that he didn't know his constituency because he was postering in a certain area, which was rubbish and the journalist who claimed this was completely wrong in his accusations. This journalist should be looking to his right-wing friends as someone closer to home who has no clue where the boundaries lie!

Another funny occurance was the vision of Barbre de Bruin's face on a poster in East Belfast at the Newtownards Road/Castlereagh Road/Short Strand junction. This should have been taken down quite a while ago! I'm surprised no one has complained about that. I think I might mention it to the Electoral Office...lol...what is the fine for this these days?

Knock Carriageway heading out of South Belfast

Barbre isn't standing in this election is she???

Election Time Again!

So it is election time again and I was not expecting to have to do much more than a bit of canvassing and leafleting but how wrong I was!

Mum is standing again in this election and I have been given the job of Election Agent. I don't mind helping out at all but it has been pretty stressful because of the boundary changes and the late notice meaning that deadlines crept up pretty quickly.

I have just received my leaflets this morning so while most candidates have been canvassing already we will only be starting this weekend. For us that's not a great problem because we have a smaller area to cover as we are only covering the Catholic and Mixed areas of East Belfast as the DUP have the vote pretty much tied up over there.

I would like to see Naomi Long give Mr Robinson a run for his money this time round but I think he will probable retain his seat. I would like to see a build in the SDLP vote and we have meet a lot of new supporters this time than we had in previous elections so that is a hopeful sign.

Keep your fingers crossed for us!

The Toilet Restaurant! - Only in Asia

A restaurant in Taipei! Hilarious photos of the toilet restaurant that uses mini toilets for serving food and serves ice cream like poo! I always loved themed restaurants in Japan. I loved the prison themed restaurant where you get chained up and walk in a line to your prison cell and every hour they have a prisoner break out! Brilliant!!!
Thanks to Noeleen for the email!

St Patrick's Day Parade - Belfast 2010

Just a few photos of the parade and the floats. I have to say I wasn't really impressed with it and they could have done more but the floats were great and the teams of kids really worked hard.

It was a good day out in the end with a few wee guinness!

Gary Busey - The Legend???????

He really has lost the plot! He was a mess at last year's Oscars too!

Niamh Kavanagh back for Eurovision

">

So this is one of my all time favourite Eurovision songs. I still know all the words to this day and still love singing it!

The good news is that Niamh Kavanagh who sang this winner for Eurovision is coming back to sing the entry for Ireland again in 2010!

She was one of the backing singers on The Commitments soundtrack and does some solo songs on the soundtrack album as well.

I haven't seen or heard the song she will be singing but I love her and I hope this means another win for Ireland!

He's Back!

">

We'll not back in Kpop...but Jay is back!!! My favourite member, now ex-member, of 2pm has started a youtube channel and uploaded his first cover video.

Voice is still great and he is much more at home singing and rapping in english! His bod is still stunning!

That has made my day! Let's hope he gets discovered and gets a real record deal!

Boztepe Chi Sau - Amazing

">

The skill Boztepe shows here is stunning! He can feel every slight movement and react to it.

I want to train again!

Spartacus Blood and Sand...and Boobs!

So I've been watching the new Spartacus recently and although it is not claiming to be historically accurate or factual it doesn't dissappoint. It is a gorey, fake blood, boobs out gratuitous romp through the arenas of Rome and the lives of slaves and their masters.

The big noise about Spartacus was that Xena Warrior Princess (Lucy Lawless) gets her boobs out! Well that's what all the Xena nerds have been dying for all these years and they are not dissappointed. The benefit for ladies watching is all the buff men fighting but John Hanna getting his leg over has scarred me for life.

If you like Rom, a great series that it was, and you are happy with fake blood and CGI you should have a go with Spartacus Blood and Sand. To be honest I get tired of the overuse and misuse of C**t and F**k because it seems that they are just using it for effect and the meaning of what they are saying is totally lost. But overall the characters are compelling and the story lines are interesting.

Let me know what you think. Here's a clip for you.

Corey Haim RIP

The legendary Corey Haim of lost Boys fame has died! Far too young for such a talent to die but it seems the drugs caught up with him. The family are saying that it wasn't drugs but it appears to be a suspected overdose that took him!

He never really made the career he should have and it is such a shame!

He made a comeback and did a Lost boys Sequel and then did a 2 season reality show with Corey Feldman, which I would love to see. Sad he didn't do more!

Very Sad!

P.S.....Who knew that he dated Victoria Beckham!
