Poster War

**Note - Turns out that neither candidate is in the wrong but to clarify for constituents the electoral commission should really let them know in which constituency they are now living in. It is a grey area that is very difficult to clear up!

There are always complaints during the election about Posters. Some people complain that they are outside their house and don't want to see them, others complain when rival posters are put up in the wrong area, and some complain about posters that aren't down after the election (this annoys me too, but it is easy to miss the odd one).

Now normally these things don't bother me but I had to investigate a problem with Mum's posters today. I was told that their had been a complaint about our posters being beside the UCUNF (Ulster Unionist and Tories) candidate for South Belfast. The borders of course meet along the boundary line but I had been very careful about their position. Turns out that it wasn't our mistake at all, the UCNUF posters are way out of their boundary. If it was only 1 poster I wouldn't be bothered but there are 7-10 posters on the main Knock dual carriage-way out of South belfast and into East Belfast.

South Belfast MP Alasdair McDonnell was recently criticised that he didn't know his constituency because he was postering in a certain area, which was rubbish and the journalist who claimed this was completely wrong in his accusations. This journalist should be looking to his right-wing friends as someone closer to home who has no clue where the boundaries lie!

Another funny occurance was the vision of Barbre de Bruin's face on a poster in East Belfast at the Newtownards Road/Castlereagh Road/Short Strand junction. This should have been taken down quite a while ago! I'm surprised no one has complained about that. I think I might mention it to the Electoral Office...lol...what is the fine for this these days?

Barbre isn't standing in this election is she???
